During the 2023-24 winter sports season, student athletes from Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) achieved an incredible feat by winning a total of 20 state championships. These outstanding achievements were a result of their hard work, dedication, and skill on the field in various sports.
Congratulations are in order for these exceptional student athletes who achieved state championship titles. At Battlefield High School, Alyssa Sagle shone in gymnastics and swimming with wins in the 50-Yard Freestyle and 100-Meter Backstroke. Meanwhile, Ava Rice stood out in Indoor Track with a victory in the 55-Meter Hurdles.
Brentsville District High School saw Kayla Smith excel in Indoor Track with wins in the 55-Meter and 300-Meter races, while Charles J. Colgan Sr. High School’s Alex Grocholski won the 500-Yard Freestyle in swimming. Freedom High School’s Nyela Asterilla-Anderson, Amanda Boateng, Psalmn Jones, and Arianna Thomas joined forces to secure victory in the 4×400-Meter Relay in Indoor Track.
Gainesville High School’s Trent Daniels achieved impressive wins in the 1600-Meter and 3200-Meter races in Indoor Track, while Caroline Tribett also succeeded in the latter race. Patriot High School’s Ty’heak Buie took home a state championship with his performance Indoor Track event, while Potomac High School saw a team effort from Hayden Goodman, Cameron McDuffie, Nathanael McMahon, and Owen Renquist secure victory for them as well.
